Address Changes & CLEAN_Address:
To do an address change in Colleague go to ADSU (like always).
Detail on the addr you want to change.
On ADR, BEFORE entering any new addr info, using the Delete key, DELETE all existing addr-related fields (addr lines, city, state, zip, country, county) (in that order, top down).
Now, click back into the Address field & begin entering the new addr like you normally would.
CLEAN_Address functionality works best when all of the addr fields start out empty.
For example, if you start typing a new addr line without deleting anything else, CLEAN_Address will attempt to cross-reference that new addr line to the zip code that was on the already existing addr. Unless the person is moving w/in the same zip code, you will get an error message pop-up box that you will have to deal with.
The “danger” of not deleting any existing fields before you begin the new addr entry:

The “danger” of not deleting any existing fields before you begin the new addr entry:
- once you get that error pop-up & click OK to close it, Colleague will accept anything you type & the new info will not be verified against official USPS addresses.
- this may result in:
- potential Bad Addresses in Colleague
- extra postage costs for the returned mail
- losing touch w/ our alums, parents, etc…
